Private Microsoft Training

Instructor-led courses in a computer lab environment where developers can "get their feet wet" building applications using Microsoft technologies. Course content, subject matter, and delivery are determined by the client and SetFocus. Course content can be standard MOC (Microsoft Official Courseware) or customized content developed by SetFocus. Our private training courses can be held at our facilities or at the client's site. All courses are available online via The GRID®

Seminars

Our seminars are instructor led sessions that provide students with an introduction to a specific Microsoft technology. These seminars consist of a high-level overview of multiple aspects of the desired technology and are intended as a starting point for developers, managers, and decision makers to learn Microsoft tools and technologies. All seminars are available online via The GRID®.

Organizational Skills Assessment

SetFocus' Skills Assessment is a process by which you learn more about yourself and your team. We will help you answer the following questions.

  • Where are the current skill set of your development team?
  • What are their strengths?
  • What areas need improvement?
  • What skills are needed to create a more knowledgeable team of developers?

Our Skills Assessments are much more than just a rating. We will take our findings and convert knowledge into action. Once we understand your current skills, objectives and upcoming projects we can determine the proper courses and topics to increase the knowledge of the team and help you gain productivity.

Mentoring

Mentoring will help your developers meet their goals and objectives quickly and efficiently by providing on-site and off-site guidance following in-class instruction sessions. Mentoring is a cost effective way to add additional expertise and support on a short-term basis to enhance the adoption and implementation of your chosen Microsoft technology. SetFocus mentors are available to you to provide advice, act as a sounding board, reinforce concepts, and guide your developers through the tactical implementation of your desired technology.

On-site support could consist of a mentor visiting your facility and working with your developers on a specific project on deck or proof of concept. Off-site guidance could consist of dedicated support through Instant Messaging, Email, Phone, and / or Web Ex meeting during normal business hours.

Architectural Design Sessions (ADS)

An Architectural Design Session (ADS) is an intensive 2 day session targeted at senior technical decision makers. The objective is to engage in discussions concerning Enterprise Architecture topics, learn about your business and technical challenges, define a potential solution to a particular challenge, and to initiate the next steps towards delivering a solution.

This session will provide in-depth technical information on your chosen Microsoft Technology. Presentations, demonstrations and white board discussions are customized to address your organization's specific needs.

The ADS will provide information to evaluate:

  • The benefits of using Microsoft technologies for solving your business problems.
  • Common architectures for solving business problems with your chosen Microsoft technologies
  • Review current and upcoming projects and discuss the time frames and due dates.
  • SetFocus and your team will also determine Custom Training Requirements (if additional training is required) to match the current skill set required for this project.

Proof of Concept (POC)

Proof of Concepts are engagements designed to demonstrate to a customer the ability of a proposed solution to satisfy a specific business requirement through the use of your chosen Microsoft technologies. A typical POC consists of a 4-6 week hands-on project in which your developers, in combination with SetFocus mentors, are building a working prototype of an application based on your specific business needs. . The objectives of the engagement vary by customer but will be defined, discussed and understood prior to the engagement.

POC Benefits:

  • Your team's skills - increased
  • Your business challenge - being resolved
  • The deliverable of a prototype - ready to be moved into production.
  • Your deployment of your chosen Microsoft technology - moving forward.
