Increase your skill set with BI Training

SetFocus has designed The Master's Program: Business Intelligence (BI) Track to help bring professionals to the next level in their career by learning to design and develop BI systems that help reduce the complexity of organizing and distributing information for mid- to large-size organizations, through the use of the latest versions of Microsoft's BI tools, including SQL Server 2008R2, SharePoint 2010, Excel Services 2010, and PowerPivot 2010.

The BI training begins with introductory and advanced Transact-SQL Programming. T-SQL Programming is often a litmus test for BI developers, so we cover over 100 different SQL queries across a wide variety of situations. We then dive into Designing an ETL Solution Architecture Using SQL Server Integration Services including Implementation and Maintenance of SSIS. Next, we cover Data Warehousing fundamentals and Dimensional Modeling techniques, using the widely-accepted Kimball methodologies. We’ll present different data warehousing scenarios used in different line-of-business applications, and cover the specifics of designing, building, and maintaining different types of data warehouse, data mart, and dimension models.

In addition, we extensively cover how to Design an Analysis Solution Architecture (OLAP) Using SQL Server Analysis Services including Implementation and Maintenance of SSAS. You will expand your knowledge on MDX Queries and learn how to create complex reports and charts employing expressions, global collections, and conditional formatting using SQL Server Reporting Services.

To complete this intensive experience you will plan, build, and roll out an Enterprise Reporting Dashboard utilizing SharePoint 2010, and learn how to leverage PerformancePoint Services 2010 for monitoring and analysis purposes. Finally, you’ll learn how to publish Excel PivotTables and PivotCharts into SharePoint 2010 using Excel Services 2010, and how to create self-service BI applications using Microsoft’s newest entry in the BI platform, PowerPivot 2010.

Projects

Throughout the BI Master’s Program, you’ll employ the BI tools studied in class to work on different projects with specifications drawn from actual industry projects. You’ll devote the last week of the Business Intelligence Master’s Program to a capstone project that encompasses all the BI tools you’ve studied in class.
