World Wildlife Fund: Clean energy initatives will create new IT jobs

The World Wildlife Fund recently released a report that claims the United States can create IT jobs and other positions by starting initiatives that promote the use of clean energy in foreign countries. Striking partnerships in developing countries to create clean energy will lead to countless jobs in the U.S. and abroad.
The WWF believes that if American companies can assume 14 percent of clean energy initiatives in developing countries, it could lead to nearly 300,000 total jobs.
"If America wants to have any chance of catching Europe and China in the clean energy race we simply cannot afford to ignore international markets for American clean technologies," Lou Leonard, WWF's director of U.S. climate policy, said.
The WWF report stems from the recently proposed American Power Act, sponsored by senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry, which would set aside 1 percent of funds from emissions auctions for clean energy initiatives.
Should green projects throughout the world begin adding to the list of available openings for IT professionals, it will augment an already growing list. Wanted Technologies reported earlier this month that IT jobs grew by 34 percent in April compared to the same month last year, and the company expects the growth to continue.
