The IT jobs market got more good news recently when the technology careers website Dice reported an increase of postings for IT opportunities.

The site currently has nearly 74,000 IT job postings, up by nearly 50 percent from the low it experienced in June 2009, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. At 42,000, more than half of the listings are for full-time employment. The rest are categorized as contract or part-time positions, according to Dice.

Silicon Valley in California has shown the largest increase, with postings up 64 percent. Chicago IT job postings rose 47 percent over last year. New York and New Jersey area postings spiked 32 percent and Washington D.C. saw an increase of 13 percent.

Dice has been in operation since 1990 and claims to be the "leading career website for technology and engineering professionals, and the companies that seek to employ them," according to the site.

Positive signs for the IT job market have been abundant recently. The U.S. Department of Labor said the technology services market created 28,600 jobs over the summer, with 19,500 dedicated to the IT field.
