Updated Verizon CaaS service should create new possibilities for IT professionals

Telecom giant Verizon announced Thursday that it had implemented several upgrades to its Cloud-as-a-Service infrastructure. The new features will provide boosted peak bandwidth and more flexible connectivity with back-end systems.
Verizon's cloud computing manager, Patrick Verhoeven, told Connected Planet that "we used to talk about voice and data services on one of the most connected networks. Today we talk about a business services network where we can embed on-demand infrastructure, applications and security into our network such that we can enable critical business ecosystems."
The company said that its new server cloning feature would allow IT professionals to create a virtual copy of an existing server framework, which could be useful for tech workers attempting to map out a prospective IT system based on virtualization and scalable technology.
Experts say that the move toward cloud computing in enterprise IT is accelerating quickly, and that IT professionals without sufficient training and expertise in the new frameworks - which are radically different than traditional models - could be rapidly left behind by their more experienced peers.
