A new report from national staffing firm Yoh Services reveals that wages for technology professionals, including IT employees, increased during the latter portion of the fourth quarter.
According to the Yoh Index of Technology Wages, pay for industry professionals increased 4.3 percent in December. That followed modest increases of 1.3 percent in October and 0.2 percent in November.
The increase is significant, as the average pay for tech professionals hit a four-year low at $29.81 per hour in September. Last month, wages rebounded to $31.55 per hour.
“We’re kind of cautiously optimistic right now because the demand has been consistent and the wages” have increased, Joel Capperella, vice president of client solutions for Yoh Services, told the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Yoh compiles its statistics based on the wages of more than 5,000 technology professionals the firm has placed at more than 1,000 companies.
A study published by Robert Half Technology, an IT placement firm, in October also revealed good results for technology salaries. According to that report, the average IT salary will increase 3.4 percent this year. At projected wage increases of 5.5 percent, business-intelligence analysts stand to benefit the most.
