Technical college graduates not struggling to find jobs

A report recently released by Wisconsin Technical Colleges said that 86 percent of students that graduated in May 2009 found employment within six months. A substantial portion of these graduates found IT jobs shortly after graduating with either an associate or bachelor's degree, according to FDLReporter.com.

The Wisconsin Technical College System recently released its first ever Graduate Follow-up Report and found that the growing need for qualified IT professionals in fields like healthcare helped drive the numbers. Outside of IT, industries like civil engineering and others that combine advanced math and science skills reported little difficult finding employment with competitive salaries.
"It's extremely encouraging to see most of our graduates finding employment during these tough economic times," Dan Clancy, WTCS president, told the news provider. "Technical colleges work with their advisory committees to ensure the skills and knowledge students learn in the classroom translate to immediate success in today's workforce."

A report released by the University of California San Diego Extension School earlier this month also found that healthcare information technology was among the fastest-growing fields for recent college graduates. Government initiatives aimed at making hospitals and other healthcare institutions more efficient led to the growing number of positions for IT professionals.
