Survey indicates business intelligence training critical for IT professionals

The results of a study released last week by Boston-based market research firm Aberdeen Group seem to show that business intelligence is one of the highest priorities of executives with responsibility for supply chains.

Product value chain researcher and co-author of the report Viktoriya Sadlovska says that "the only way to ensure that a company's supply chain is able to adapt to continuous business changes fast enough is to establish an adequate level of supply chain intelligence."

According to Aberdeen, the report is a strong indication of the importance of BI software in the management of the modern firm's supply chain. Aberdeen analyst and vice president Nari Viswanathan remarks that "the cutting-edge supply chain BI technologies are pervasive and role-based - they are embedded into the specific supply chain processes and can provide immediate intelligence to the process owners."

Experts say that IT professionals with advanced business intelligence training could have an easier time than others when job hunting, and that those who are already employed offer greater value to their companies.
