Sharepoint training still a commodity in Canada's IT career market
5/13/2010 2:16 PM
IT professionals with SharePoint training are still in high demand in Canada, according to ITBusiness Canada. Throughout the nation, IT jobs as a whole are as scarce as they are in any field, but several companies are actively seeking a SharePoint developer among other highly specialized IT professionals.
Skilled IT workers whose skills can directly translate to improved business performance are high on the wish list for companies hoping to move their operations forward. The popularity of specialized applications that promote efficiency and accuracy within the enterprise has led to this demand. Companies want IT professionals that can design these applications and SharePoint is among the best tools to do this.
Dave O'Brien, a vice president for Eagle Professional Resources, told the news provider that SharePoint training is an especially hot commodity in Calgary, Alberta as businesses in the province's largest city attempt to encourage financial growth. He also noted that the positions are stable than many IT jobs since they are not as "as vulnerable to offshoring as jobs involving testing and coding."
With Microsoft's recent release of SharePoint 2010, IT professionals can seek training on the most advanced enterprise content management offerings currently on the market just as the demand for SharePoint developers takes off.
