Sharepoint administration and migration to be taken over by Axceler

Software administrator Axceler improved its resources for Microsoft SharePoint 2010 as it recently announced its purchase of echoTechnology, the leader in SharePoint migration.

The acquisition allows Axceler to extend its capabilities with SharePoint and handle administration and migration for its customers, both of which are required, complicated steps for switching to the program. Migration is required to import existing content to fit the environment of the new SharePoint. The company also announced the release of two new products for SharePoint - ControlPoint 4.0 for administration and its new Davinci Migrator.

Mark Gilbert, vice president of research at Gartner, stressed the importance of these resources, saying "having the right administration and migration tools can really help enterprise customers plan and manage their sometimes complex transitions."

Officials with Axceler believe the acquisition puts their company in a more capable position to assist its clients. Michael Alden, president and CEO of Axceler said "with this acquisition, we can better serve our customers' growing need for management before, during and after their SharePoint migrations and upgrades."

The merger shows the importance of migration for adaptation to the new SharePoint program. Other companies, including Metalogix, have developed competing software to assist in migration for SharePoint 2010.
