SharePoint integration product announced by business intelligence provider

Boston-based BI software maker Imaginatik announced Wednesday that its flagship Idea Central 10 product would be usable in combination with Microsoft's SharePoint software.

The company asserted that "the integration seamlessly combines Collective Intelligence with collaborative business processes by using a Web Service API to expose Idea Central content within SharePoint." This will allow users to create tools like RSS feeds to provide Idea Central information to SharePoint-built sites, the company said.

Imaginatik CEO Mark Turrell said that "collective intelligence lives inside a firm's IT infrastructure. Our corporate clients who use SharePoint as their collaboration platform can now benefit from our advanced toolset for innovation, ideation and collaborative problem solving integrated into their familiar, standard software."

The company also stated that their product would be compatible with SharePoint 2010, which is due for general release next month.

Such a product could require a degree of additional training for SharePoint developers used to working on that system alone, but some businesses might find the investment to have been well worth it, if Idea Central 10 is useful to their operations.
