SQL servers more capable, reliable thanks to Microsoft updates

With the releases of its newest operating system and software, Microsoft has patched a series of holes that prevented users from achieving the best results with earlier versions.
In older versions, Windows often crashed when users attempted to access an SQL analysis server from an application running on Windows 7. With the SQL Server 2008 R2, this is no longer a problem, which will help organizations reduce the amount of time required for SQL Server training. There are other holes patched by the updates that help Windows 7 and other Microsoft products operate as well they can.
With the release of Microsoft Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 on the horizon, enterprise users view these patches as especially timely. The goal for Microsoft was to achieve optimum security, reliability and stability prior to the release of its new software.
Microsoft's SQL Server 2008 R2 is set for enterprise release later this month, and the company could not risk major Windows 7 reliability issues plaguing its release. The new server allows users to manage as many as 250 CPUs from a single server dashboard.
