SMBs searching for mobile application talent
4/29/2011 8:29 AM
Jack Cullen, president of the IT staffing firm Modis, recently told InformationWeek that mobile application experience is a highly sought after trait among small- and medium-sized businesses looking to hire IT workers.
Microsoft SharePoint architects and employees with enterprise resource planning experience are also in heavy demand.
Although full-time hiring continues to increase each month, temporary and contract hiring in the IT field is currently increasing at a greater rate.
Cullen also said IT companies can make themselves more appealing for talent by embracing new tools and encouraging employee innovation.
"I don't think it's a huge surprise why everybody really wants to work for a Google or an Apple - it's like a tech magnet with everything they offer," Cullen said. "The tech workforce loves that creativity."
An area where SMBs are currently lacking properly trained IT staff is for the business intelligence market. According to a report by LogiXML, SMBs lack the necessary budget and IT staff when it comes to implementing BI.
