Rural onshore IT services providers present career opportunities

A new IT World Canada report suggests professionals struggling to find IT jobs in urban areas should turn their attention to the ample employment opportunities offered by rural onshore IT services providers.

Many of these domestic outsourcing companies are located in such places as Jonesboro, Arkansas, Sebeka, Minnesota and Macon, Missouri because costs are lower in many rural areas, allowing the companies to keep client fees low. These companies offer prospective IT employees opportunities in programmer, analyst and developer careers.

"I feel very lucky that new hiring opportunities have started to become available despite where the economy is going," said Granville Raper, who recently joined Rural Sourcing in Jonesboro, Arkansas as a senior programmer/analyst.

According to IT World Canada, these IT opportunities in rural settings are also good for older professionals looking to wind down their careers.

Opportunities for IT jobs of all kinds appear to remain plentiful, despite the still-struggling economy. According to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, the technology services industry added 28,600 jobs between June and September of this year. Of those, 70 percent, or 19,500, were IT opportunities.
