Report: SharePoint developers could find opportunities for work in legal sector

Law firms could be among the numerous business sectors to benefit from the recent release of Microsoft's SharePoint 2010, according to a report by IT professional Mark Gerow for Law.com.
Gerow writes that "given the sheer breadth and depth of these changes, most legal IT departments are likely to take an iterative approach to evaluating and deploying SharePoint 2010 - selecting those features and subsystems that offer the most value first, and then gradually layering on additional components as the benefits become clear."
This piecemeal approach is typical of legal IT, Gerow writes, because all technology used by a law firm to deal with legal data is subject to highly proscribed rules and statutes. The rules ensure that all sensitive information is dealt with in a standardized way, should it be required for use in a court of law.
Gerow's report could mean that, given the proper SharePoint training, IT professionals could soon see employment opportunities becoming available at law firms, since the new features present in SharePoint 2010 have made the framework more attractive to that type of business.
