Open Text teams with Microsoft to provide GRC services
4/26/2010 10:20 AM
ECM provider Open Text announced Wednesday that it had partnered with Microsoft, using that company's SharePoint platform to host its government governance, risk, and compliance offerings.
Open Text vice president Brian Donaldson said that "participating in Microsoft's Technology Centers is an important evolution of our long-standing partnership with Microsoft. Now our mutual customers have a valuable resource for learning how Open Text ECM offerings complement the Microsoft platform and can develop strategies for putting those offerings to work in their organizations to improve regulatory compliance and lower risks."
Representatives from Microsoft also applauded the conclusion of the deal, saying that the increasing challenge of keeping up with GRC issues makes the market for such products a profitable one. SharePoint developers using the combined system will be better able to create interoperable frameworks from which enterprises can manage their GRC operations.
Microsoft recently released the 2010 version of SharePoint, prompting a wave of interest in the product as IT professionals explore the new possibilities inherent in the upgraded system and their applicability to a given company's operations.
