IT professionals in the United States may consider migrating south, stopping in North Carolina to take advantage of a burgeoning information technology in the Old North State.

Recent research from the North Carolina Technology Association found job openings for IT professionals in the state increased by 14.9 percent, climbing to 4,560. The growth has outpaced the technology industry for the entire country, and builds upon previous momentum in the state's tech sector to become the seventh consecutive month for increases in job openings.

“It’s encouraging to see that North Carolina actual employment in tech fields, as well as job openings, continue to outpace national trends,” said Brooks Raiford, NCTA’s chief executive officer, according to Local Tech Wire.

The numbers for August are four times as high as the IT job openings in the state for the same month in 2009. The recent developments also signify serious economic recovery for IT professionals in the state, as August's total of 4,560 tech job openings far exceeds the same month in 2008, prior to the recession, which averaged 3,110 job openings in the industry.

Throughout the country, the IT job market saw improvements last month, as the national average of job openings grew by 3.3 percent as well.
