Newest Department of Labor statistics show increase in IT jobs

The latest employment report released from the United States Department of Labor reported that 8,800 IT jobs were created in April, according to Channel Insider. The gain represented the largest growth in the IT careers market since the Wall Street financial crisis began.
In the last seven months, there have been about 25,500 IT jobs created in the United States. While experts believe that the job market will never be the same as it was before the collapse, the gains show that IT companies are confident enough to begin hiring again.
"In fact this economic recession is probably the best thing that ever happened to IT organizations who have been struggling for years to become more relevant to the enterprise by transforming themselves into agile, flexible, nimble entities," Foot Partners CEO David Foote told the news provider.
Management and technical consulting firms reported the largest growth within the IT sector as companies look to reassess their IT spending.
In hopes of saving money, many organizations have switched to cloud computing, which may represent the next major sector in terms of IT jobs. Gartner recently reported that 95 of companies that use software-as-a-service applications will expand or maintain their use in 2010.
