New software speeds up conversion for .NET developers

ArtinSoft Corporation recently announced the release of new software for converting Visual Basic 6.0 applications for use on .NET framework.

Visual Basic Upgrade Companion version 4.0 was released with improvements after a downloadable trial program produced successful feedback from its users. The software is designed to help IT professionals speed up conversion projects by providing solutions for migrating applications to the .NET framework. Compared to manual conversion, IT professionals using the software have completed conversion projects up to five times faster.

Officials with the company explained that they wanted to design a product that enabled customers to leverage the beneftis of the .NET framework. Roberto Leiton, ArtinSoft CEO, said that "the best way to combat obsolescence and to comply with industry regulations is to ensure that applications are built using technologies like the .NET Framework."

He added that the tools in the software were designed to "leverage the existing investment in Visual Basic 6.0 systems" because they allow users to convert "applications that do not require a proprietary runtime library."

Other companies have developed software to leverage the benefits of the .NET framework with new technology. Last week, Kentico Software announced a new product with full support for Visual Studio 2010 on .NET framework 4.
