Microsoft relaxes SQL Server MCM certification

Microsoft recently released a revised version of the SQL Server Microsoft Certified Master program, making it easier for database professionals to achieve MCM status.
The announcement was made at the 2010 Professional Association for SQL Server Conference in Seattle earlier this month. Microsoft said the revised program eases certification standards by offering more flexibility, advanced training and certification on Microsoft server technologies at a lower cost.
"Anyone who wants to be noticed by an employer or a customer, should increase their technical experience on Microsoft server products by completing the curricula and obtaining the master certification," according to a Softpedia report.
Changes were due to a high demand for Microsoft Certified Master certifications for SQL Server 2008, Softpedia reports.
Microsoft offers five master certification programs - Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Windows Server 2008 R2: Directory, in addition to the SQL Server certification. The programs offer expert-level classroom and laboratory training offered by Microsoft instructors and partner organizations. Trainees are tested on real-world scenarios to develop relevant skills.
