Intel president believes investment will encourage development of IT jobs

Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini recently announced that he believes further investments in innovation in information technology will help stimulate the United States economy and create countless IT jobs. He made the comments during a speech at the World Congress on IT in Amsterdam.

At the event, Otellini cited Intel's plan to offer college students funding for IT business models it believes can succeed. Proposals that plan to leverage new trends in technology - such as mobile devices and green tech - are the most likely to earn the funding as Intel views these areas as the future of its company.

"Returning to sustained economic growth means taking a long-term view with a mindset of investment. Innovation results from combining people who have good ideas with investment," Otellini said.

Green IT has been pegged as one of the best ways to stimulate the economy by a number of organizations. The World Wildlife Fund recently reported that the United States can create IT jobs by directing funds toward green technology initiatives in developing countries.
