IT still in demand

While many people are finding it difficult to find jobs, information technology is at or near the top of the market in many regions.
Biomedical research firms, government contractors and IT companies are poised to hire in the coming months, with the federal government looking to add jobs as well.
According to the Labor Department, the unemployment rate declined in 207 of the 372 largest metro areas. The decline is the greatest since last September. In 122 areas, the unemployment rate rose and 43 metro areas reported no change.
Nationwide, the unemployment rate declined from 9.8 to 9.4 percent in December. Half of this decline was because people stopped looking for jobs, so they are not counted by the government as unemployed.
Three areas with continued growth in IT are Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Washington as companies are investing more in computer networking and data storage equipment.
IT spending has seen massive growth in the last few decades and reached $4.3 trillion worldwide last year. Companies are looking to spend more on development and improving the infrastructure, creating more job opportunities nationwide.
