Results from the latest Robert Half Technology Salary Guide suggest IT professionals can expect to earn higher salaries next year.
According to the report, the overall average IT salary is expected to increase 3.4 percent in 2011. Looking deeper, Robert Half Technology, a leading project and full-time job placement firm for IT professionals, predicts business-intelligence analyst salaries will increase 5.5 percent. That will put the average BI analyst's annual compensation in the $82,500 to $116,250 range.
"A focus on improving efficiency, managing assets and securing data has increased the demand, and base compensation for IT professionals," Robert Half Technology Executive Director John Reed said.
Specific industries that will show particularly strong demand for IT professionals in 2011 include business services, transportation and healthcare, according to the report.
News of higher salaries comes on the heels of recently released Department of Labor statistics that show technology services added 28,600 jobs between June and September. Of those, IT services accounted for 70 percent with 19,500 new positions created over the summer.
