Companies need new IT professionals to progress

Companies that have not been able to increase a hiring budget even as the economy has begun its recovery are likely to suffer moving forward, according to 9News.com, which cited a survey conducted by Robert Half Technology. The survey polled 1,400 chief information officers from companies around the United States.
Forty-eight percent of those polled said that understaffing has "somewhat" affected their ability to leverage the development of new technologies. Sixteen percent said that the inability to hire people has had a major impact on their deployment of new technology. However, 34 percent did say that a lack of hiring budget has not impacted them at all.
"While companies would like to do software upgrades, hardware upgrades and embrace new technologies, which would help with productivity, they [cannot do that] because their departments are understaffed because of the last few years," George Denlinger, regional vice president for Robert Half Technology, told the news provider.
CA Technologies CEO Bill McCracken recently reported that companies that fail to implement cloud computing, one of the most rapidly growing trends in IT, will struggle to compete. An ability to do so because of a small hiring budget can set a company back or even drive it out of business.
