A survey of human resource managers and recruiters by technology careers website Dice suggests that companies across the United States will hire more IT professionals this year.

Nearly half of respondents to the most recent Dice survey, which are conducted every six months, expect hiring to increase by at least 10 percent over the first six months of 2011. Another 33 percent expect hiring increases of 11 to 20 percent, and 15 percent will bring on between 21 and 30 percent more IT employees.

Fifty-two percent of the 850 hiring managers and recruiters polled expect IT salaries for new hires to be about the same as last year.

"Tech is such a big part of everyone's business processes these days that it's really gone up around the country," Dice Holdings chairman, president and CEO Scot Melland said.

The report also revealed that developer careers may see the most growth, as they are in the highest demand among companies filling positions.

An increase in IT staffing was reflected in a recent Computer Economics study. Adding to IT staffs will be among the focus of an increase in IT spending, the report found. Thirteen percent of respondents said they will focus spending on the size of their IT staff.
