Business intelligence hires may lead IT jobs recovery

As companies continue to spend cautiously in recovering from the global economic recession, they will begin hiring new IT employees based on specific needs, according to IT workforce analysis firm Foote Partners.

Recently speaking to Network World, the firm's CEO David Foote said business intelligence will be one of the skills in high demand for new hires. He said companies will be looking to hire new staff that meet such needs for finance, accounting, auditing and not necessarily the central IT operation.

"We know that there are pockets of IT spending all over the companies," Foote told Network World.

The news provider also reported that tech hiring will be boosted by an increase of capital spending in the IT industry. That may cause companies to outsource fewer jobs, the report predicts.

Experts agree that 2011 will be a big year for business intelligence, which suggests professionals with such skills will be in high demand. According to recent research from the Aberdeen Group, 67 percent of so-called "best in class" companies have deployed some form of self-service business intelligence. Twenty-one percent of all companies deploy business intelligence, according to the report.
