A recent report from the Boston Globe identified business intelligence analyst as one of several hot jobs for 2011.

The IT career was listed in the fifth spot on the newspaper's list of the top 11 prospects for this year. According to the report, business intelligence analysts can earn between $82,500 to $116,250, which is an increase of 5 percent over 2010 figures.

Pay will increase for such IT employees as companies demand more insight into their business data, Boston Globe reports. This is especially true during times of recessions and recovery, when companies are in need of any advantage to weather the economic storm.

"Companies will be willing to pay more for analysts to guide their decisions, keep costs down and evaluate clients," according to the Globe's report.

Several recent reports and recruitment experts have forecasted a strong year for business intelligence professionals. Research firm Foote Partners CEO David Foote recently told Network World that companies will begin hiring based on specialized skills, with business intelligence near the top of the list of needs.
